We had two local athletes qualify for Kona in the last month. We may do well to try and “adopt” them under the “granny rule” that is common in international football especially as they are both fast. It’s why I love Ironman, There aren’t many sports that an average athlete can work hard and improve enough to get to the World Championships without having a massive Vo2 or some other physiological difference that makes them the best. Regardless of how many hours I trained I could never go from being a 2:57 marathoner to 2:15.
