Adrian garvey from Forkhill qualified on for the 2017 Ironman World Championships last Sunday at the first running of Ironman Santa Rosa. The list is growing rapidly as we near the end of the 2017 qualifying races.

Click on through for details of how his race went. Adrian is coached by multiple Kona qualifier Owen Martin. Owen was one of the first Irish athletes to qualify for this years World Championships at Ironman Arizona last year.

Adrian exited the water in 1:18:18 in 72nd place in his age group leaving himself a lot of work to do on the bike and run. On the bike he rode 5:09:36 for the 5th fastest in his age group. Adrian then ran a solid 3:28:28 moving up to 2nd in his 45-49 division and into 34th overall.

This was only his third crack at the distance and made it onto the podium as well as taking his first Kona slot.

I’ve added Adrian to our Irish in Kona 2017 page which you can check out here

Thanks to Peter Tomany for sending through Adrian’s details and result.
